Water Conservation
Water is a precious natural resource that is essential to all life. But unfortunately, water scarcity is a global concern that grows more dire everyday. By doing your best to conserve water, you are helping yourself, your local community, and the world. Water shortages can increase the spread of disease, cause food shortages, cause a loss of biodiversity, and many other issues within agriculture and the environment. Saving water diverts less water from rivers and bays which helps maintain a healthy environment. Not only that, but conserving water helps you to save money by lowering water and energy bills, along with wastewater treatment costs.

Cities have begun imposing water restrictions to help combat these issues. The city of Denton has issued Ordinance 19-863 which states that watering is only allowed one day a week depending on the last digit of your home address from 6pm to 10am in June, July, August, and September. Neighboring cities like Fort Worth and Ponder have similar restrictions, such as no watering for more than two days a week or at all during the day. These restrictions ensure that all essential uses of water remain available, like water for drinking or firefighting.
You can find the water restrictions for your residence here: Texas.gov Drought or by looking on your city’s official website.
The small efforts add up to form a lasting result. You can conserve water in your own home by washing cars or boats less, not refilling pools as often, or taking shorter showers. Let us help alongside your efforts! By having your irrigation system checked for leaks regularly and switching to native plants that require less water, you are making a difference.
